A German family that was not allowed to homeschool their children fled to the United States in 2008. Just recently, a judged in the U.S. granted them political asylum. In Germany families are not allowed to homeschool, but can send their children public or private schools. The German government said that the requirement was there so that children could receive the best academic training. No word yet on if the German or American government will try to appeal the decision. Source:Washington Post
